Kaupapa

In Aotearoa, volleyball is more than a sport—it’s a platform for rangatahi (youth) to grow in confidence, leadership, and resilience. Yet, many face barriers to quality training, development pathways, and competitive opportunities.

The Aotearoa Volleyball Academy aims to bridge these gaps for all youth volleyball players, regardless of their aspirations to compete locally or overseas, by:

  • Providing comprehensive resources, mentorship, and exposure to international programmes.
  • Empowering rangatahi and their whānau through world-class expertise and online resources.
  • Opening doors to opportunities in volleyball and education.

Guided by this whakataukī, AVA is dedicated to growing volleyball in Aotearoa from the ground up. We believe in creating a culture of collaboration and excellence, where the experiences and insights of those who’ve played at the highest levels can be shared to inspire and support others.

At the heart of our kaupapa is a commitment to community, sustainability, and equitable access. As athletes progress, they are encouraged to give back by mentoring the next generation—creating a self-sustaining network of support that uplifts volleyball in Aotearoa.
