Hailing from Rotorua, Tyran Gillespie begun his impressive volleyball career through Western Heights High School, where he played a huge role in securing 3 national banners across indoor and beach volleyball. His standout performances earned him a spot at the Youth Commonwealth Games (Bahamas, 2017), solidifying his place among Aotearoa’s top young athletes.

Tyran continued his journey at University of Mount Olive, competing in NCAA Division I/II (Conference Carolinas) and earning Conference Carolinas 3rd Team honours in 2022. An academic weapon, Tyran made both the Fall and Spring Presidential Honour Rolls, while completing a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation and Leisure, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Education.

Following his collegiate career, Tyran transitioned into coaching, taking on the Head Coach role at Western Heights High School. His commitment to developing the next generation of athletes reflects his deep passion for the sport and giving back to his community.
